Thanks to TSMC's 12nm FinFET manufacturing process, it reaches a base clock of 3.7 GHz and a boost clock of 4.3 GHz with a tight TDP of 105W, slightly higher than the 95W of the first-generation Ryzen. This manufacturing process lets AMD offer an operating frequency 300 MHz higher than the first generation, a voltage 50 mV lower, and all-core overclocking capability up to 4.2 GHz.
Thanks to the new Precision Boost 2 algorithm and XFR 2.0 technology, the Ryzen 7 2700X's operating frequency will exceed the 3.7 GHz base speed when using more than one physical core, and it will also sustain higher frequencies for longer compared to the first generation of Ryzen.
